Third Year 2011-2012

Prince of Peace Academy is in its third academic year. Operations are running smoothly and we continue to improve our outreach activities through community service, advertisements, Google search, and mailings. Enrollment has increased since the start of the school year, adding the students Bjorn, Victoria, and Aliza. Partners in Ministry and fundraising continue to provide an important financial base and Messiah Lutheran Church continues to bless the Academy with their building, use of Luther Hall, their prayers, and use of the main church facility.

According the the audience, the production was awesome, uplifting, and beautiful! Prince of Peace Academy thanks Messiah Lutheran Church for allowing us to use their beautiful sanctuary to tell the story of God's love for us, and to encourage people to share the good news with the world. May God bless Messiah with an abundance of Spirit and joy in their service to the Lord.

Lutheran Schools Week Kickoff Breakfast 3/6/2011

Prince of Peace Academy kicked off Lutheran Schools Week with a nutritious and delicious breakfast at Messiah Lutheran Church. Volunteers servered 200 people while Boy Scout Troop 498 of Spring Lake Park bussed tables and served coffee. Thank you to Messiah for allowing us to use the kitchen, serve in the Crossroads area, and sing to the congregation and children's message.

Students, teachers and parents enjoyed a full week of learning, learning adventures and fellowship with other schools and university. Thank you Lord, for your grace and love.

Prince of Peace Academy Christmas Concert

"Mary, Joseph and the Baby"

It truly was an evening of beautiful music to celebrate Christmas. Featuring the Prince of Peace Academy Choir (all of the students), a humorous program (the birth of our savior from the point of view of lambs and donkeys), student art, and a Choral-along, over 80 guests enjoyed  a delightful evening and fellowship.

We deeply appreciate the graciousness of Messiah Lutheran Church for the use of their sanctuary, and for Pastor Klaus and Pastor Deidrick, who lead us in prayer.

DVD's of "Mary, Joseph and the Baby" are available. Please call the school telephone number or click on the link below to send an email. A free-will offering would be appreciated.
Enjoy.

Second Year 2010-2011

Prince of Peace Academy is entering its second academic year with some exciting news! Enrollment has increased to 20, up from 16 in May! Mr. Ryan Anderson joins the ministry as the teacher of the upper grades and athletic director, and Mrs. Petroff continues her ministry as teacher of the lower grades. Welcome aboard, Mr. Anderson!

Christian education is an important component in the life and faith of families and contributes to the spiritual health of our communities. We are grateful to Messiah Lutheran Church for the use of their wonderful facility at Luther Hall, and we pray that God blesses them abundantly.

Miss Coburn

It is with mixed emotions that we share the news that Miss Megan Coburn has accepted a call to Zion Lutheran Church and School in Chebanse, Illinois. She will leave at the end of July.

We are very sad to see her go and will miss her. Megan is an awesome, professional, personable, capable and well-loved teacher. We are very excited, however, to witness this new opportunity for her, knowing that God has led her to this call and that she will be an excellent teacher for Zion.

Beaming Out
(of Luther Hall to make room for Families Moving Forward

Prince of Peace Academy has been on a tremendous path since its official founding as a non-profit school on June 19th, 2009. Along the way, the Lord has strengthened and guided the Board, teachers, volunteers, and parents, and opened doors to complete the work He gave us.

The timing and sequencing of events was nothing less than divine. As one parent aptly stated "I really feel God is behind this effort. I have detected no obstacles." And a month later "Is this really happening?"

Messiah blessed the new lamb of a school with much needed space, a warm welcome, and a safe haven in which to stabilize the school. Messiah even gave the school a great opportunity to test its flexibility!

After several coordination meetings with Messiah's volunteers for Families Moving Forward, the Academy "beamed out" of Luther Hall after school on the last Friday in September, transported classrooms into a shipping container, then partially reconstituted classrooms in Messiah's Sunday school area. Meanwhile, back at Luther Hall, Messiah provided needed space and volunteers to the families of Families Moving Forward, that they might find hope and move forward. Nine days later, Prince of Peace Academy beamed the school back into Luther Hall on a Sunday evening, and started school at the normal time on Monday morning.

It was a whirlwind adventure of volunteer, teacher and Board energy guided by the Spirit.

Prince of Peace Academy - the Beginning

Prince of Peace Academy was established in the summer of 2009 and opened for the first day of school on September 6 of the same year.

Work progressed quickly
with a strong base of energetic parents, students, teachers, supporters and prayer. August of 2009 was dedicated to site preparation with registration day and open house on August 15, then a Grand Opening on August 29.

"Getting to this point has been hard work," said one volunteer, "but it has been a labor of love."

We now are focused on getting out the good news of this exciting opportunity for education in the Northern suburbs.

If you want your children or grandchildren to receive a quality education in a peaceful environment; if your children benefit from small classrooms and personalized instruction; then Prince of Peace Academy can be your child's new school. You will not be disappointed.

If you have a heart for Christian education and want to help ensure this valuable alternative is available to the children of our community, consider accepting Prince of Peace Academy as one of your missions.
